HNT ~ I want to join the Cirque-us.
I’d only seen Cirque Du Soleil on video. This has little bearing on the live experience. As a performer, I know this well. Theater is already in 4 dimensions, and so it cramps and flattens on film. SO, I was thrilled to be able to get discount tix to see the new offering from Cirque, oVo.
I didn’t realize it would change my perceptions about how I see myself.
I love circuses, even as far back as cheesy ass Ringling Brothers. But I’m not bendy, I’m not an animal trainer, I’m dissatisfied with the standard “clown gig,” and I had no fancy physical geek tricks.
But Cirque has room for me.
oVo’s loose story is about bugs, doing the shit bugs do when they are human sized and have no fear or bones.
But wait…among the contortionists, acrobats and jugglers…the aerialists and the undefinable magic makers, there was a fat Black Ladybug lady…and she is one of the central characters in the show! In the circus! And she was awesome!

Why Submission ≠ Gift.
I don’t mind tropes. Sometimes, phrases that are often used are that way because they withstand the test of time. I don’t’ even have to finish the following sentences and you know the balance…
“You can’t judge a book by…”
“You can lead a horse to water but you can’t…”
“Good things come to those who…”
“I got ants in my pants and I need to…”
And in the BDSM community, we have similar truisms that people hear, jump on, and repeat because they seem to make sense.
Or do they?
