Seeking Kinky Book Reviewers: by Tristan Taormino

I am really, really proud of my latest book, The Ultimate Guide to Kink: BDSM, Role Play and the Erotic Edge. There have been a bunch of reviews posted online in the last few weeks, and they all have one thing in common. They begin like this (I’m paraphrasing): “I am not kinky, I am not a leatherperson, I am not into BDSM, it’s totally not my thing, but, that said, The Ultimate Guide to Kink is…”

Listen, book reviewers don’t only reviews books on their favorite subjects. I love to read books about things that I don’t necessarily have a personal connection to. And I sincerely appreciate when people take the time to read my books and write thoughtful reviews about them. But that said, I would like some kinky people, even kink-curious people, to review The Ultimate Guide to Kink. I just think they’d have a different perspective than folks who aren’t kinky. So, if you are kinky or genuinely kink-curious (and please define these terms for yourself) and want a free copy of the book in exchange for an Amazon review, email me at tristan at puckerup.com with subject line Amazon Reviewer. Give me the following information:

  • Your name
  • Your Amazon reviewer account name
  • Mailing address (or I can send a pdf, let me know your preference)
  • A link to one or more of your Amazon reviews*
  • Tell me if you are interested in reviewing future books of mine, and indicate which you prefer: lesbian erotica, trans/genderqueer erotica, general erotica, sex/how to, kink books, non-fiction/essays, LGBT/queer themed books. This way I can put you on a permanent list to receive my books for review as soon as they come out.

I’ll send you the book if you agree to post your review on Amazon.com within six weeks of receiving it.

*Here’s the thing: I need some level of assurance that a) you are not a right wing, homophobic nutjob hell bent on trashing my books and b) you’ve reviewed books on Amazon before and you’re likely to post a review. Otherwise, this whole exercise is futile.

Well, I AM kinky and I’m an over-educated, respectful, and very eloquent woman. I’d love to review your book, but I’m not an amazon reviewer…yet.

Are you still looking for reviewers? If I haven’t reviewed on Amazon before, would a review of mine by worth something to you?

    Let me know…Luscious

I am educated and avid female reader. I am putting a website together reviews only sexually oriented material. I have read and reviewed bdsm fiction and nonfiction on the Barnes and Noble website under the name ” -AvidReader”. I would be more than happy to review your book for free or even if I have to pay for it.

I do not review on Amazon because they have selective reviewing standards that I do not agree with. They will delete reviews or not post reviews if they do not like them. I want to create a site that posts positive and negative reviews, regardless.

I and my husband are into beginning bdsm. I have health issues that make some positions impossible. We have a good time together. I love your site. It is inspirational that a strong beautiful woman can be a submissive. I find myself in a similar situation. I had trouble coming to terms with it, at first. I am resolved to embrace myself as I am. Thank you for being out there honestly and openly. It is appreciated.

If you’re still looking for reviewers I’m interested. Don’t use my Amazon account much since they passed a crazy law in my state. However, I will post a review on Amazon & on my blog. You have my word that I am not a not a homophobic right-wing nut job.
